The premier of Seven minutes in heaven by Ormi Givon, a Jerusalem based director’s first film, will represent the opening of the cinematic arts in this year’s Jewish Summer Festival. The Hungarian grand premier is set to August 26, 8:30 p.m., at the Urania National Film Theatre. The heroine of this shocking piece is Galia, who suffers from burns and a partial amnesia due to a terrorist attack, while her partner is in a coma. When a year later the man passes away, the memories of the tragedy resurface in her mind.
How can you overcome being the sole survivor of a terrorist attack? This is the pivotal question in Seven minutes in heaven. However, regarding the subject and narration there is much hidden underneath the surface, highlighted by the amazing, realistic cinematographic tools. The idea for this emotional, analytical tale came to the Israeli director, Omri Givon’s mind through an article. Galia loses her mate after a terrorist attack on a bus, while she suffers severe burns. She clings to her perceived reality with all her might, but her panic attacks and the flashes of the victims’ horror prove stronger. When she meets Boaz hope twinkles for a moment, perhaps the cure has been found.
The drama won the awards for Best Film both in Haifa and the A list Warsaw International Film Festival.
